In August 1982, Joaquim and José Da Silva Tavares Snr began J. Tavares & Sons Construction. Their unified vision was to establish a business founded on integrity with personalised and efficient service tailored to meet client’s individual and corporate needs. Evidence of this philosophy, the company is now run by third generation Tavares sons, a testament to the original vision.

Umvuzu Projects CC started in 1999 as an employment company to satisfy our transformation process and has been actively busy in the Construction Business, Plant Hire and Mining Industry. Umvuzu Projects became a market leader, offering competitive and integrated service offering to suit contracts of all sizes and types.

It became beneficial to the future of the business to fulfil our transformation goals and adhere to economic empowerment legislation. And so, Umvuzu Civils (Pty) Ltd was born, the product of a merger between Umvuzu Projects CC and J Tavares & Sons Construction.
